19 more days...

Only 19 more days until my baby sister's due date, and we're all more than ready to meet her! The hospital bags are packed, and everything is up, clean and ready for her when she arrives home!

At the 37 week check-up this past Monday, the doctor confirmed that the baby is in a complete breech position, sitting Indian-style and all. (Apparently when she checked she could feel a bottom and toes - how crazy is that?!) Obviously Mom is not going to deliver her that way, so here's the game plan:

* This coming Monday (4/26) Mom and Dad will go to the hospital to try an external version. Basically, the doctor will attempt to turn the baby head-down by pushing on the outside of Mom's belly. Luckily Mom is going to get some pain meds during the procedure. :)

*If the version works, then Mom and Dad will come back home and wait for baby girl to make her appearance, hopefully sometime in the following two weeks.

*If the baby becomes distressed during the procedure (of which there is a very small risk), then they will perform a c-section immediately.

*If the baby is safe but just doesn't want to turn during the version, then a c-section will be scheduled for her due date, May 10th. And if Mom goes into labor before then, a c-section will be performed.

Of course Mom and Dad are hoping to avoid a c-section by attempting this version, but we all know that God is in total control and really the only thing that matters is that this precious baby girl enters this world healthy and thriving. :) I'll be sure to keep you all posted on how things go on Monday! Thanks in advance for your prayers!!
